My first recent piece that did not explode in the kiln, this is a flooer, a magical imaginary animal from
After Man by Dougal Dixon.
After Man portrays a zoological analysis of the period immediately following the extinction of
Homo sapiens. The flooer evolves on a island colonized entirely by bats. Its ears and nose-like sensory apparatus imitate flower petals and it secretes a sweet-smelling substance to attract its insect prey. We don't have the correct shade of crimson available as a glaze, so I'm waiting until I can procure the proper shade of acrylic paint.
