Even in the real fossil Wiwaxia from the Burgess Shale, broken spines were common. Yet when I accidentally broke off one spine, I felt compelled to destroy the whole thing and dump it in the slip bucket. I'm making several new Wiwaxia as a contingency plan in case another one breaks.
