Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny, potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay since 2004, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.
I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Fish Pot With Tongue-Stealing Parasite WIP
There is a marine crustacean which parasitizes fish by cutting off blood supply to the fish's tongue until it falls off and then takes the place of the tongue. This is so unique and fascinating and disgusting that I had to incorporate it into pottery. I was thinking the mouth could be used as an ashtray.

Bear With Needles
This is another sculpture for the toy shelf in the Angry Mophead story. It was also an excuse to buy hypodermic needles.

Kerubic Sphinxes WIP
I've been working on sculptural versions of the 4 Kerubic beasts this week, but I probably won't get around to firing them until the end of the year or early 2018, so these are collaged/semi-flat stand-ins to use on the card until then.

Kerubic Angel WIP
The Kerubic beast of the air is supposed to be an angel or "man." This one is modeled on the solar from the AD&D Monster Manual 2.

Troll Mini
This was made in 2012 as a Dungeons & Dragons mini. I think it was meant to be an orc, but I'm going with troll for now.
