Aboleth 2
Aboleths are amphibious aberrations from beyond curved space time, slavers, mindfuckers, the worst possible slime monsters to be encountered in the vastest and blackest subterranean seas.

Max Rebo
This is Max Rebo, the red ball jet organist from Jabba's palace in Return of the Jedi. This is also my first piece using only acrylic paints instead of glaze or a combination of the two. As previously noted, Max lost a finger in the bisque kiln.

Another Yochlol
A second attempt to sculpt Yochlol, the handmaiden of the Demon Spider Goddess Lolth. It has many delicate protrusions that would break off easily if handled roughly and the people who load the kilns are used to handling pots and only pots.
The finished Yochlol is here.

Flooer 2
My first recent piece that did not explode in the kiln, this is a flooer, a magical imaginary animal from After Man by Dougal Dixon. After Man portrays a zoological analysis of the period immediately following the extinction of Homo sapiens. The flooer evolves on a island colonized entirely by bats. Its ears and nose-like sensory apparatus imitate flower petals and it secretes a sweet-smelling substance to attract its insect prey. We don't have the correct shade of crimson available as a glaze, so I'm waiting until I can procure the proper shade of acrylic paint.

Hatchlings
The kilns are on and very hot at the studio. So tomorrow I find out if my most recent pieces exploded. I'm waiting on Aboleth 2 and Psychoeris. I'm also waiting on Flooer 2 from the glaze kiln, but I wouldn't expect an explosion there.

Unglazed Max Rebo
The Max Rebo sculpture lost a finger, which could potentially affect his ability to play the red ball organ, but didn't justify smashing the whole thing. We don't have any glaze that comes anywhere near that ridiculous baby blue color, so I think I'm going to resort to acrylic paints instead of glaze.

Unfired Psychoeris
This is an image of the goddess Eris as destructress from my old website, The End of the Last Iceage, originally on Geocities and relocated last year. I'm out of new clay objects to post here, so I either need to take a break or start digging into the archives.

Carp Dragon
This is the Carp Dragon, a.k.a. Yu Lung, one of the Fiend Folio's Oriental dragons.

So Like a Fish...
After the explosion in the kiln, I feel compelled to take a picture of each piece I make just in case it doesn't survive. This is a replacement for the aboleth that blew up. The problem is that I don't know for sure if there are any lethal air bubbles lurking somewhere. This one could also explode and destroy my other pieces and other people's pots in the process. So like a fish to come in and start oozing all over the place.

Tanuki

My interpretation looks suspiciously like a teddy bear, despite the prominent genitalia. I'm not comfortable coming this close to cute.

Zuckuss Column
The Zuckuss Column has been sitting on my shelf for a few months. It lost a chunk out of the column. I used a mysterious substance called Magic Slip to attempt to reattach it, but it was unsuccessful, so I glazed it anyway with the piece missing.
Zuckuss is a character from the famous bounty hunter scene in The Empire Strikes Back. He is from the planet Gand and his species is also known as the Gand. He can be seen for a few seconds standing with his fellow bounty hunters, including his droid partner 4-LOM, and Darth Vader.

Here you can see the missing piece of the column.

Triangularly Prismatic Cat Column
The cat's head is open at the back and there is a cluster of small skulls surrounding the pink orifice and leading down the ridge of the column.

Kiln Did Not Fire Properly
One of the kilns has a note on it which says: "Kiln did not fire properly. Do not touch!" It contained my Carp Dragon and a few more of those USA-shaped surrealist objects. I know they didn't explode because it was a glaze kiln, not a bisque kiln. If they made it this far, they are most likely not going to explode. They may come out looking horrible because of the improperly firing kiln, but at least it won't have been my fault, which is a relief.
I got back three finished pieces: the Tanuki, the Triangularly Prismic Cat Column, and the damaged Zuckuss Column.
