Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Joint O' Beast

This is based on a design from a digital collage version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It was one of the dishes on the table from the dinner scene. It was based on an earlier scissors-and-glue collage of the same story about 5 hip teenagers from Texas who go to check on their ancestral home in the country after reports of desecration of the family cemetery. Their car breaks down and they go to ask the neighbors for help and the neighbors turn out to be cannibalistic ghouls.

Failed to capture the feeling of the collage version and I eventually purged it.
