Princess Di's Arm

I recently participated in a mold-making and mold-pouring workshop.  This is the result.  The pottery studio received an incomplete set of commercially produced molds of body parts for a Princess Di doll.  The cat head mold I had made wasn't ready at the time, so I made a Princess Di arm. 

I painted it black and now it's living with the basil outside.

So far, my cat head mold has not produced any cat heads:

This is the revised (reglazed) version of Chamsa 118.

Chamsa 118 has a few spots that didn't get glazed and I think I'm going to fill in the gaps and refire it.

Chamsa 119.  I used a combination of glazes, hoping for a golden color, but it looks more like mustard and the glaze on the pupil of the eye also ran.  Crappy discount chamsa.

I like the effect of the cobalt oxide with an off-white glaze on top of it better than our "Floating Blue" glaze.  The design is borrowed from a chamsa found online.  I've seen it used as clip art in several places and I don't know who designed it.

This is the original image.  I left off the fish and the Hebrew (mazel, luck).

Chamsa 105

I've been using this shape for chamsas for a while. The original has a pattern of curves, a pair of fish, and the Hebrew word for luck, "mazel." I managed to fit everything except the fish.

Small Commission Chamsas

These are 1.5 inch chamsas with holes at both ends so they can be incorporated into jewelry.  I made 36 and the commission was for 9.  The rest are still available.

These chamsas are colored with a glaze called Pussywillow which shows up as a light matte blue when applied lightly and a darker, slightly glossy blue when applied more heavily.  It doesn't show that well in the photos.

This is a three-layer chamsa.  The pussywillow glaze on the smallest hand and the glossy black glaze on the largest one came out nicely.  The "floating blue" on the middle one is reliably weak.
