Pages

Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.

I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.

Self-taught artist on the autism spectrum. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, horror comedy, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – and all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme. I feel like I'm frantically birthing as many clay monstrosities out into the world as I can.

Solar Mug

The face on the stamp was inspired by a tourist souvenir statue  labeled as the god of fertility.

Eye Cup With Scars

This is my 70th eye mug.

Chef Mug WIP

I had to resist the urge not to give this thing eyes.  The face is inspired by the Swedish Chef.

I decided against a tongue as well, but here's how it would have looked:

June 2018 Bisque Firing

The firing was successful, but there was a fair amount of breakage while loading.  A few pieces lost body parts and one had to be tossed into the black pit of despair.

Hamsa Tray

The use of a Devangari syllable makes this more magickal than if I had used amurriquen letters.

Joint of Beast WIP

I did a collage interpretation of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre about 20 years ago which had some drawings of weird food for the dinner scene.  This is an interpretation of one of them.

Transcendental Function Cups WIP

Redoing the Cotangent Cup.  Perhaps this project will be less of a drag if I use red clay.

Second attempt at the Secant Cup.  It's still pissing me off.

Third Secant Cup:

y = csc x
I now know why trig functions are not a popular decoration for pottery.

Jonah Cup Again WIP

Retrying the Jonah cup.
