Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.

I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.

I’m a self-taught autistic artist working in my medium for over twenty years. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, folk horror, horror comedy, horror in general, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Cannabis Cup With Carved Leaves WIP

I've been making mugs with cannabis leaves cut from slabs of clay.  They look nice and they eventually sell, but they get chipped very easily and I'm trying a different method.

Flying Taco Sculpture

3-D version of the flying taco mascot for my food porn blog Tacos of the Universe.  I was going to describe it as sculpted, but I'm not sure a folded clay tortilla counts as sculpture.  The stuff inside is probably seasoned crumbled tempeh.

Saiga Tiki Mug

This is the first of a series of four tiki mugs with fun animal designs carved into the cup.  The first is Saiga tatarica, the Saiga antelope of the Eurasian steppe zone.

Demodex Crucifixion

I made a sculpture of an eyelash mite a few years ago and it sold!  Here's another one in a fun situation that everyone can enjoy.

Demodex folliculorum is the eyelash mite, a tiny arachnid that lives, eats, and mates in hair follicles in your face.  Demodex mites are very common in humans.  You probably have them in your face right now.  They usually live out their lives without causing health problems for their hosts, but in some cases can cause skin infections.  The only way to cure a demodex infestation is to crucify a few individual mites and hope the others flee in fear.

Eye Magnets

Love - Hate Eyes

I recently had these for sale at the Gem & Jam music festival in Tucson.  Someone bought all the "Eye Love You" magnets and left me with all the "Eye Hate You"s.

Angry Blue Face Mug

I've made several of these and they always sell because everyone loves an angry blue face and everyone loves being irritable while drinking coffee.  The glaze is a white glaze with an indigo/blue glaze on top of it.
