Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Floyd: Me and the gang have decided not to end our gig here if I can write the new theme song.
Kermit: Oh, that'll be fine with me.
Floyd: No it won't, man.
Kermit: Why not?
Floyd: You'll hate my music. You won't understand it.
Kermit: Wait, listen here. I'm pretty hip too, you know.
Floyd: Not hip enough. Nobody understands my music. I mean, I don't even understand it. If I didn't know I was a genius, I wouldn't listen to the trash I write.

I attempted this piece a few months ago just after a big move to a new space. Ended up destroying it and this is a second attempt now that the new living space doesn't feel quite so unreal.
