Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

My Milagros

About a year and a half ago, I started this project with Sara.  We made small, grotesque clay sculptures with plans to paint or glaze them and hang them up with a clay bell.  She finished her own a long time ago, but it took me a long time to prepare mine, but it finally happened and here is the finished object.

This happy clay object was one of my milagros, but I decided not to include it since it's so grim and icky.
