Pages

Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Larger Hallucigenia WIP

Finished Hallucigenia sculptures

This is another sculpture of the obsolete interpretation of Hallucigenia walking on spike-like structures.  It's larger and a little more detailed than the last one, but I only managed to fit five of the six pairs of legs.  At some point I want to try to make the more modern, more accurate Hallucigenia walking on its tentacle-like legs with the spines on its back, but what probably worked fine in a marine setting is difficult to balance in clay.
