Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.

I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.

Self-taught artist on the autism spectrum. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, horror comedy, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – and all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme. I feel like I'm frantically birthing as many clay monstrosities out into the world as I can.

Phallic Monster #7

This is #7 in a series of penis-shaped beasts.  This one has a loose-fitting lid which opens up to reveal a small compartment.

Pot Leaf Stories

These are some of my ceramic marijuana leaves on display at the NORML table at KFMA Fall Ball.

These are some new marijuana leaves that were destroyed by a leak in the ceiling of the kiln room.

This is a slab mug with ten molded eyes looking in different directions.  It's a copy of Eye Cup #44, which was a copy of Eye Cup #36.

Crab Louse Sculpture

This is an interpretation of the human crab louse or pubic louse, Pthirus pubis.

An electron microscope image of a crab louse.  I find it hard to capture the limb and body segments and the bristly texture in clay.

Leaning Devotion

This is another in a series of sculptures called Devotions.  This one had one head on the left side that wasn't attached firmly enough and fell off.  I tried to reattach it with glaze, but it didn't work.
