Aberrant Ceramics is the artwork of Aaron Nosheny,
potter and ceramic artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Self-taught and neurodivergent, he has worked in the medium of stoneware clay for 21 years, developing a practice rooted in literal construction and obsessive repetition. He makes non-traditional ceramics in a medium built on tradition, exploring the overlap between wonder and revulsion. Subject matter includes sympathetic monsters, insects, opossums, fast food mascots, and Halloween kitsch.

I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Pikaias 6 and 7

Pikaia 6

Pikaia 7
I've already written about this elsewhere, but I'm not over it yet, so I'll write it again.  This was the first time in about a year that I've put my work out in the kiln shed to be loaded and unloaded by the regular kiln volunteers instead of reserving a kiln and doing it all myself.  The result was a broken tentacle.  I used the pikaia with the broken tentacle as a glaze test.  I don't think the reddish brown glaze looks good on pikaias.
