Continuing with the flashback to 2010, here is Handsome Pete from the Simpsons episode "Bart the Fink," in which Krusty fakes his own death.

ceramic artist and potter in Tucson, Arizona.
I work in the medium of stoneware clay and make hand-built pottery, sculpture, hamsas, ornaments, masks, and a variety of other forms.
I’m a self-taught autistic artist working in my medium for over twenty years. I like monsters, insects, weird animals, body horror, folk horror, horror comedy, horror in general, Halloween decorations, fast food mascots, kitsch – all of these creep into my work, but there’s really no overarching theme.
I am in love with my medium. I love the process of frantically birthing clay monstrosities, subjecting them to an epic trial by fire, and sending them out into the world.

Clown Column
This is an old piece from 2009. It consists of a clown head on top of a series of nested cups. The clown is from a Simpsons episode. It's based on Bart's clown bed in "Lisa's First Word."

Space Coyotes 11 and 12
I recently sold one of these on Etsy and decided to make a few more, but then I heard rumors of Fox's plans to crack down on copyright infringement on Etsy. I don't know if the coyote head is actually copyrighted, but I voluntarily took them down to avoid having my shop closed.

Space Coyotes 8, 9, and 10
These are clay interpretations of the Johnny Cash-voiced spirit coyote that Homer Simpson meets in "El viaje misterioso de nuestro Jomer." Space Coyote #10 has an extra pair of eyes.

Space Coyotes 3 and 4
I sold a Space Coyote on Etsy and had a commission for another. In my fantasies, I received and cease and desist letter from Lucasfilm, but maybe it will be Fox instead.
The one with the black nose is still available on my Etsy shop.

Space Coyote 2
This is my second Space Coyote, representing Homer's spirit guide from "El viaje misterioso de nuestro Jomer."

The studio has an annoying policy of writing the date in pencil on the back of pieces that come out of the bisque kiln. At least, it's annoying to me. The graphite burns off if it's fired again in the glaze kiln so it doesn't affect the piece permanently. It annoys me because the extra handling of already fragile pieces could potentially damage them. I wrote a message on the back of this one saying "You don't need to write the date on me. All of my work is picked up promptly," but I was the one to unload the kiln so it didn't really matter.

Hallucinogenic Edna
This is a hallucinogenic image of Edna Krabappel (not Crandall), Bart Simpson's perpetual fourth grade teacher. In the episode "El viaje misterioso de nuestro Jomer," Homer eats Guatemalan insanity peppers at a chili cook-off and goes on a psychedelic journey. When he looks at the already grotesque Springfieldians while tripping, they appear even more distorted. This is an interpretation of the image of Edna Krabappel in that episode. When she speaks, she sounds like one of the off-screen adults in the animated Charlie Brown films: "Wauh wauh wauh-wauh. Wauh wauhh. Wauhhhh."

As Robert "Sideshow Bob" Underdunk Terwilliger once said, "You only get one chance with Edna Krabappel." I have now had my chance.

An image of Edna from the episode. I thought she needed a sixth eye to make her symmetrical.

Evil Clown 5
This is the fifth and I think last of the series of 2011 Evil Clown flats. This one is also partially glazed and partially painted with acrylics. The beige blob on the hat is a circle of tiny skull molds. The face is shaped from a mold of the Misfits fiend/Crimson Ghost logo.

Evil Clown 4
This is #4 in the 2011 series of evil clown flats based on the clown bed from the Simpsons episode "Lisa's First Word." By #4, it has mutated considerably from the original image. The inside of the mouth is glossy and reflective because it's Ragnar's Black glaze. The baby faces on the hat are also glazed. The rest is painted with acrylics.

Just to clarify, that was baby faces and not baby feces. I have my limits.

Evil Clown 2
This is an Evil Clown flat sculpture/hanging based on Bart's bed from the Simpsons episode "Lisa's First Word." I made a similar object in 2009, but I didn't think the available glazes were bright and tacky enough. I think acrylic paints worked better for the effect I wanted.

The New Currency, Part 2
This is the second set of clay coins.
This one has Lisa Simpson's face. It says "See You Real Soon Kids," which was Krusty the Clown's epitaph in "Bart the Fink," in which Krusty fakes his own death to avoid being prosecuted for tax evasion.

This one has the face of Tessek, Jabba the Hutt's Quarren accountant. It says, "Cthulhu Fhtagn," which means "Smile! Cthulhu loves you!" (or "Cthulhu Dreams," depending on which translation of The Necronomicon you read.)

This one has a face from a creepy Christmas decoration. It says, "War is Sexy. War is Fun." This comes from the Dead Kennedys song "Rambozo the Clown."

This one has a Wampa face and says "Jesus Was a Terrorist," from the Jello Biafra song of the same name.

This one was created to try out a new eyeball mold.

Wererats, Part 2
A second team of Dead Rat Gang wererats has been completed.
This one is actually a part of the first team of wererats, but the figure broke in half in the kiln and had to be glued together. The face comes from a Pee-Wee Herman bobblehead. I think he's dressed like a Jedi.

This wererat has the look made popular in the AD&D Monster Manual.

This one has the face of Waylon Smithers, as seen in the Simpsons episode Rosebud.

This one has the face of GI Joe or a similar heavily muscled doll for boys. It looked better before glazing.

Handsome Pete
Handsome Pete is a character from the seventh season Simpsons episode "Bart the Fink." In this episode, Bart inadvertently reveals Krusty the Klown's tax fraud crimes to the IRS. Krusty fakes his own death. Bart and Lisa figure out that he is now living as a diver salvaging scrap metal from shipwrecks. They speak to the Sea Captain down by the pier and Bart asks him to identify Krusty from an image on an underinflated balloon. Captain McCallister identifies the distorted image as Handsome Pete, a grotesquely distorted version of Krusty who plays the accordion and dances for nickles.
The clay object was constructed lying flat with the left foot heavily weighted, which I hoped would allow it to stand on that foot. It worked.
